Adult Beverage Film Podcast

If you love great cinema, you will love hearing our hosts and special guests from the film industry (directors, writers, directors of photography, producers, actors, gaffers) talk about some of the best films and tv shows ever made.   In each episode, we discuss a new or old classic film with our mystery guests who speak freely about their thoughts on the work of art while we enjoy a few adult beverages along the way.

 Our hosts:

Kent Smith (award-winning director, writer, producer) has worked in the film business on such shows as Homeland, Mr. Mercedes, Outcast, and feature films as Tusk, Max, and The Other Zoe.  He is the director of award-winning films, The Last Passport, Mike, and Little Package.  He brings his film knowledge to the table on each show.

Patrick G. Keenan (award-winning actor), who you might have seen in Blind Side, Homeland, Tropical Cop Tales, Mike, and Little Package is no stranger to the stage, and he brings more jokes and tremendous knowledge to the already funny show.

Laura Truman comes to the table with her fantastic laugh on life and incredible film knowledge (Film Critic and old school film collector).

Carlisle "Squeaker" Hamrick (Audio Genius and the boy who hates everything) is maybe the smartest guy on the show, so you never know where he will bring the questions.

"The Birdcage" is a comedic gem that brings together the legendary talents of Robin Williams, Nathan Lane, and Gene Hackman. This uproarious film takes us to the sun-soaked paradise of South Beach, Miami, where Armand Goldman (played by Robin Williams), a flamboyant drag club owner, and his partner Albert (portrayed by Nathan Lane), a dazzling performer, navigate a hilariously complicated situation. When Armand's son, Val (played by Dan Futterman), announces his engagement to the daughter of a conservative politician, chaos ensues. Val's soon-to-be in-laws, led by the rigid and staunch Senator Keeley (portrayed by Gene Hackman), decide to pay a visit. To create an illusion of normalcy and avoid a scandal, Armand and Albert must transform themselves and their extravagant lifestyle into something more palatable to the conservative family. As mistaken identities, outrageous mishaps, and an abundance of fabulous costumes come into play, "The Birdcage" unfolds as a side-splitting tale of love, acceptance, and the lengths we go to for our loved ones. The film's razor-sharp wit, impeccable comedic timing, and unforgettable performances make it a riotously entertaining comedy that explores themes of identity, family dynamics, and the beauty of embracing our true selves. Prepare to be dazzled by Robin Williams' infectious energy, Nathan Lane's uproarious antics, and Gene Hackman's brilliant portrayal of a buttoned-up politician caught in a whirlwind of hilarity. With heartwarming moments, laugh-out-loud humor, and a celebration of diversity and love, "The Birdcage" is a cinematic experience that will leave you in stitches and with a newfound appreciation for the joyous and fabulous chaos of life.
